Bill the Bossy Bear
Bill the Bossy Bear is guided by his mom as he tries to understand why his friends may not want to play with him. Bill’s mom uses positive language, without criticism, while supporting Bill so he can learn the error in his ways. This book is designed to help children understand that while we would like to have our way all the time, a good friend values others, and respects what they want as well.
Carl the Cluttered Canary
Carl the Cluttered Canary is a story based on real struggles children have when they are learning something new. Whether it’s how to clean their room, speaking up when they’re feeling vulnerable, or simply repairing with a friend when there has been a rupture in the relationship, children are continually learning how to engage with each other and understand their environment. Carl and Gordy want to play together, but when Gordy feels uncomfortable among the clutter, he has a tough time telling Carl how he feels, instead, he leaves without saying anything. Carl is confused and unaware of the reason for Gordy’s distress. With the support of his mom, Carl learns that it feels good to care for his surroundings and ultimately, his friends.
